Hi guys this is channel f&D in this video i’m going to show you how to fix Windows Cannot access the file specified device path or file you may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item error in windows…

1) First go to start menu and type “gpedit.msc”

2) Then under user configuration click on “administrative templates” then click on windows components on the right side

3) Then go inside “File explorer”

4) Then click on “Disable security tab”

5) Then select “disabled” and click on apply & then click on “OK”

6) Now right click the file or folder and go to properties

7) Go to security tab

8) Click on “edit”

9) Now you will see some usernames under “group or usernames”

10) Just select the username and uncheck boxes under “deny” and check boxes under “allow” (Repeat this for each and every username)

11) Then click on “add”

12) Click on “advanced”

13) Click on “find now”

14) Now click on “everyone” and click on “OK”

15) Click on “OK”

16) Now select “everyone” and check boxes under “allow”

17) Click on “apply” and “OK” and that’s it

  1. ANOTHER FIX: user your username to take ownership over the whole Disk-C instead of the name "Administrators" or something else.

  2. I am using an old laptop
    OS is Windows XP
    I cannot access ANYTHING
    in RUN I typed as you suggested GPEDIT.MSC
    and NOTHING happened
